The perfect shave is mere legend to many but at Newton Wood we’ve discovered a ‘shave-changing’ secret… Epsom salt! We understand how shaving can leave your skin sore, itchy, red and full of ingrown hairs. So, we’re going to share our ideas for the perfect shave with Epsom salt.
First things first you’ll need some of our all natural, highest quality, Newton Wood Epsom salt. How you use it is then up to you:
Pre shave soak
Run a bath with a generous amount of Epsom salts and soak for at least 20 minutes. This will help soften the skin, making for a smoother closer shave, with hopefully less irritation.
Pre shave scrub
We’re big fans of scrubs at Newton Wood. What better way to prepare your skin for hair removal than a good scrub? Scrubs release dead skin from around the hair follicles, allowing for a closer shave, while also preventing ingrown hairs. We recommend partially dissolving Newton Wood Epsom salts into your favourite shower gel or face wash. Then scrubbing gently in circular motions.
Post shave spray
The Epsom Salts will help to condition the skin post shave. Simply dissolve a handful of salts into some warm water, add to a spray bottle and spritz the appropriate areas. This is refreshing and soothing and will help maintain the appearance of the skin post shave.
Post shave rinse
After shaving it’s important to remove all residue of shaving lubricants and creams. If these are left on the skin, it could cause irritation and itchiness later on. We recommend dissolving Newton Wood Epsom salt into a bowl of warm water and then gliding the water over the area. Gently brush the skin with your hands to help loosen and wash away any residue. The Epsom salt in the rinse will help to condition and soothe the skin for the perfect post shave glow.
