The dreaded return of cold and flu season is upon us so we are eager to explore staying well this winter. With added concerns around Covid-19, it’s important we work on boosting our immune systems to stay as healthy as possible. We’ve been researching the many ways people like to stay well during the cold and flu season…
The bacteria in our gut plays a vital role in the effectiveness of our immune system and general wellbeing. If we support the health of our digestive system and gut bacteria, we may have a stronger chance of staying well this winter.
Not just for your Gin and Tonic, Elderberries and Elderflowers, are anti-oxidant packed natural remedies to help us stay fit and well during the cold and flu season. These delicious herbs can be taken in the form of a tea, tincture, syrup or supplement. And they’ve been hailed as a winter saviour by many.
There really is something to be said for catching a quality night’s sleep. When we sleep we allow our body to replenish and refresh. The more rested we are the more likely our body is to stay strong and well. If you’re struggling to sleep well check out our previous blog ‘Can’t Sleep’ here.
Stress treats our immune system like a punch bag. When we’re stressed we’re more likely to get sick. Finding ways to unwind and keeping your stress in check can really help you stay ahead of the game this cold and flu season. Checkout our blog on ‘Creating a wellbeing ritual’ if you need some help reducing stress.
Give your body the nourishment it needs and eat your way through a rainbow of foods. Fill your plate with reds, oranges and greens to give your immune system a natural boost. Making veggie packed soups and indulging in fruit salads for pudding can be a great treat for staying well this winter.
Keep your body functioning healthily by drinking plenty of water. Sipping little and often through out the day is a great way to keep your body alert and well. And remember herbal teas and clear broths are also a great way to increase your water intake. Plus they keep us warm without the caffeine of normal tea and coffee!
We hope you stay fit and well this winter, keeping those nasty cold and flu germs at bay. If you have any of your own immune boosting tricks do let us know on social media:
NB: We recommend you always seek professional advice from a healthcare professional if you are pregnant, breast feeding, taking medication or have any medical conditions before using new products. Always perform a patch test before using any new products. If you have a health or wellness concern consult with a healthcare professional in the first instance.
Just had a lovely Sunday soak in the salts. My skin feels lovely and soft. Would totally recommend.
