Whether or not you’re going through menopause yourself, we all know someone who is. Experiencing the symptoms of menopause can sometimes be a real challenge. So we’ve collected some tips and insights to provide some much need support to anyone impacted by menopause.

Sleep

A fantastic way of cultivating a good night’s sleep is Epsom Salt.  The magnesium rich crystals absorb into your body enhancing the quality of your sleep.  Including some aromatherapy oils such as lavender, geranium and clary sage into your evening routine can also boost your chances of a better night’s sleep.

 

Nutrition

Foods rich in lycopene are said to ease the impact of osteoporosis, caused by a reduction in estrogen levels.  Eating foods such as watermelon, tomatoes, papaya and grapefruit help provide your body with lycopene so you can reap the benefits.

 

Hot flushes

Try upping your vitamin C intake with foods such as cherries. Drink vegetable juice can also help flush toxins from your body that have been known to cause those dreaded hot flushes. Keep some peppermint oil on hand to inhale deeply when the hot flushes hit.

 

Irritability

Meditation, breathing and exercise can help kick those irritable feelings experienced during menopause.  Essential oils can also provide relief from feelings of irritation, you can inhale the aroma or apply them diluted to your skin. Geranium, basil and citrus oils can provide that much needed boost in mood and balance in emotions.

 

Perineal Discomfort

A cool compress can be applied for up to 30 minutes to provide relief from discomfort especially when the perineum feels tight and sore.  Adding some lavender can also help soothe this common condition, remember to dilute the oil before using as part of your cool compress.
