Homemade Mosquito Repellent

14 September 2021

With the warm weather we’ve been having recently there’s been an influx of mosquitoes.  This handy recipe for homemade mosquito repellent is just what’s needed to keep those pesky creatures at bay.  And in true Newton Wood style it’s a natural alternative to chemical repellents.

Equal measures of:

    • Mouthwash
    • Beer
    • Epsom salt

Spray bottle

Essential oils from the list below can also be added to further repel mosquitoes:

    • Citronella
    • Cinnamon
    • Lemon
    • Eucalyptus Lemon
    • Cedarwood
    • Tea tree
    • Peppermint
    • Lavender
    • Basil
    • Thyme

  1. Mix all ingredients together. Stir until the Epsom salts have dissolved into the solution.
  2. Add essential oils if using.
  3. Pour into a spray bottle.

Spray around the garden and outside your house to repel those pesky mosquitoes.

I use these after strenuous exercise or when I get pain in my knees (hypermobility), and always feel my muscles and joints are better for it. My skin always feels so soft after and LOVE the fact that they are vegan/cruelty free. Will definitely be continuing with these salts. Thank you Newton Wood for soothing my sore joints!
